Come
to the Stickley Road Show to hear a talk by L. and J.G. Stickley
corporate historian Mike Danial.
Inspired by William Morris and John Ruskin, Gustav Stickley (1858 -
1942) created a line of American handcrafted furniture based on
"honesty and simplicity", which became known throughout the
world as "Craftsman".
The Craftsman was also the name he gave to the Arts and Craft Movement
magazine he began in 1901, the first issue of which was dedicated to
Morris, and the second to Ruskin.
Brothers Leopold and John George Stickley also began furniture making
and the legacy of all the brothers lives on today in the current L. and
J.G. Stickey company.
This event is presented by Stickley / Manderley Manor Fine Furniture
with showrooms located at 561 and 567 Mount Pleasant Road, carrying a
line of Stickley and Mission-style furniture.
