| OCAD U Room 327 (OCAD U - formerly known as the Ontario College of Art and Design) 100 McCaul Street, Toronto, ON M5T 1W1 Subway: St. Patrick Station A look at connections between Eastern and Western arts through works by Morris and other Arts and Crafts artists, by Dr. Bahar Hejazi. Bahar Hejazi’s PhD in Art Study and Master’s degree in Industrial Design have led her to an interdisciplinary career as a teacher and researcher. Dr. Hejazi has for twenty years taught a broad range of Art and Design courses at both college and university level, and has gained considerable experience as a consultant and product designer to industry. She has been honoured as a distinguished professor and researcher in the field of Industrial Design in Iran. Currently a sessional instructor at OCAD University, Bahar teaches design courses in Design Management as well as Art & Design Foundation programs at the School of Design, George Brown College. During her study of Persian decorative art and architecture for her PhD, Bahar extensively researched European artistic movements of the nineteenth century and the impact of Eastern visual culture on these movements. Her current research interests are the cultural exchange between East and West and the development of a semiotic approach to the study of art history. Bahar is a Professional Member of the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) and is currently acting Director of Membership of ACIDO. |
