William Morris was one of the most gifted and talented Victorians. His
company, William Morris and Co. produced wallpapers, tapestries &
woven and printed textiles, stained glass and tiles. He also founded the
Kelmscott Press, designed typefaces and
published books of Chaucer’s work, his own poetry, and other authors of
the period. In Celebration of William Morris’ 173rd birthday and `The
Year of Craft’, the William Morris Society of Canada presents an
exciting day of presentations by noted curators and Canadian
craftspeople.
KEYNOTE
SPEAKERS:
Linda Parry: A specialist in 19th
Century decorative arts Linda Parry worked at the V&A Museum for over
30 years, curating the “William Morris” centenary exhibition. Click

Alan
C. Elder: Curator of Canadian
Crafts, Decorative Arts and Design at the Canadian Museum of Civilization
in Gatineau, Quebec, his exhibition on Canadian craft and design in the
1960s is currently travelling across the country. A question period
follows the presentations.
