Its park-like setting of gentle hills and mature trees, coupled with
beautiful architecture from the 1895-1920 period, make the Indian Road
area one of the most beautiful in Toronto. Many are not aware that it is
also one of the few areas where there are a significant number of homes
built in an Arts and Crafts style. Many of these homes were designed by
Toronto architect Eden Smith, who lived on the street himself and tried
to establish an artists’ colony here. This walk will focus on the
history and architecture of the Arts & Crafts homes designed by
Smith and other Toronto architects of the day.
Denise
Harris is an amateur historian with special interests in architecture
and the Arts and

As the tour will be limited to 40 participants, please register in
advance by calling 416-929-3297. In the event of rain, the tour may be
rescheduled to May 26.
