Why France?

William Morris adored France. Apart from England, he spent more time there than in any other country. Next June we will explore the countryside and Gothic architecture that, from the time of his early tours in 1854 and 1855, moved and influenced him profoundly.

Itinerary Outline

DAY ONE MONDAY JUNE 14TH: 
Arrive Paris, Airport transfer to the hotel, Welcome drink.

DAY TWO TUESDAY JUNE 15TH:
Paris - Rouen via Amiens, Beauvais, Abbeville, Dieppe; visit to Arts and Crafts house by Edwin Lutyens and garden by Gertrude Jekyll. Continental breakfast & dinner.

DAY THREE WEDNESDAY JUNE 16TH:
Full day excursion, Visit Yvetot, Caudebec and Jumieges, Continental breakfast.

DAY FOUR THURSDAY JUNE 17TH: 
Rouen - Caen via Louviers and Evreux; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY FIVE FRIDAY JUNE 18TH: 
Orientation tour of Caen; Visit Caen Memorial (Museum for Peace); Invasion Museum in Normandy; Bayeux Tapestry Museum; Continental breakfast & dinner.

DAY SIX SATURDAY JUNE 19TH: 
Caen - Mont Saint-Michel via Coutances; Visit the Abbaye aux Hommes; Half- day sightseeing tour of Mont Saint-Michel with a local guide; Visit Mont Saint-Michel Abbey; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY SEVEN SUNDAY JUNE 20TH: 
Mont Saint-Michel; Excursion to St-Malo; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY EIGHT MONDAY JUNE 21ST: 
Mont Saint-Michel - Chartres; Visit Chartres Cathedral; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY NINE TUESDAY JUNE 22ND: 
Chartres; Full day excursion to Dreux and Maintenon; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY TEN WEDNESDAY JUNE 23RD: 
Chartres - Paris; Lecture on the Pre-Raphaelite painter Val Prinsep by his Paris based grandson; Continental breakfast and dinner.

DAY ELEVEN THURSDAY JUNE 24TH: 
Paris - Excursion to Giverny; Visit Notre-Dame Cathedral; Seine morning cruise; Afternoon excursion to Giverny; Visit Monet's House & Garden; Continental breakfast.

DAY TWELVE FRIDAY JUNE 25TH: 
Depart Paris; Transfer to the airport for flight home; Continental breakfast.



Prices

Land Tour: $2,450 CAD per person (double occupancy), $780 CAD, single supplement. (or you can let us know if you would be willing to share a room.) These prices are for each person, for land arrangements only. They include:

·         11 nights accommodation in comfortable three-star hotels, with twin beds and private bathrooms

·         11 buffet breakfasts and 8 dinners, including tea or coffee

·         services of a tour director

·         museum entrance fees

·         luxury air-conditioned coach, all airport and hotel transfers, and trips to restaurants

·         hotel porterage of one piece of luggage for each person

·         service charges and local taxes

(Prices may vary slightly depending on currency exchange rates and the total number of people travelling.)

International Travel: $895 + $90 CAD per person (group airfare + taxes), departing from Toronto on June 13th, and returning from Paris on June 25th. Alternatively, you can make your own international travel arrangements and meet us in Paris on June 14, 2004.
