Members will visit the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the Victoria
and Albert Museum’s exhibition International Arts & Crafts.
This show features furniture, paintings, textiles, ceramics and
stained glass from America, Europe and Japan. Two reconstructed
furnished interiors of the period, an American Craftsman room and a
Japanese room, are among the highlights.
We will then travel to the
Cleveland Museum of Art to see The Arts and Crafts Movement in Europe
and America, 1880-1920: Design for the Modern World, an exhibition
organized by the Los Angeles Museum of Art. Comprising more than 300
objects including furniture, ceramics and metalwork, the exhibition
examines the international influence of Arts & Crafts and the
transformation of the movement in response to local economic and
cultural conditions.
Our trip will also include a stop at the Toledo Museum of Art for their
special exhibition Being Modern: Fashion, Art & Identity,
1890-1940, illustrating the rise of the modern through photographs
and graphic design, as well as visits to heritage districts in
Indianapolis and Cleveland.
The cost of the tour includes travel by luxury bus, three nights
accommodation and museum entrance fees.
