Accommodation at Kelmscott

Stephanie and Peter Classey are the lucky owners of Bradshaws Farmhouse in the village of Kelmscott. They sent us details of their house, now run as a Bed and Breakfast, for those visiting Kelmscott Manor and looking for a place to stay:

"Come and enjoy our lovely Farmhouse, built in the elegant and prosperous years of the 1750’s and still retaining original features such as a panelled drawing room and barleysugar staircase for which it has been awarded the highly prestigious grade two star listing. The house overlooks open field and distant hills and boasts a secluded garden where George Bernard Shaw once enjoyed a ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ performed on the grass stage. Our spacious double bedroom has a large four-poster bed. An adjoining bedroom is also available. Private bathroom. The working farm provides farm assured bacon and succulent sausages as part of our traditional English breakfast.

Kelmscott is a peaceful and unspoilt little village built mainly from honey tinted Cotswold stone. There is a pub, a church and Kelmscott Manor in which William Morris lived from 1871 until his death in 1896. He is buried in Kelmscott churchyard.

We are situated on the edge of The Cotswolds, famed for their natural beauty and richness of history and are within easy reach of Oxford, Bath, Stratford, Cheltenham, Windsor, Blenheim Palace and Swindon. The Thames Trail is within walking distance and there is a range of good local eating places."
